Name: Natalie Woods

Role: Veterinary Nurse & Practice Manager

Experience: Natalie joined the Midwest team in 2017. Animals have always been Natalie’s passion and have played a big part in her life, so it is no surprise that she ended up as a veterinary nurse and now Practice Owner along with Dr Tara!

Qualifications: Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing

Pets: The local residents at Nat’s are Yogi the Bulldog puppy,  Miley the Maltese, Lola the Bulldud, Chickens, and Ducks.

Tara Craft, BVSc

Head Veterinary Surgeon, Feline Doctor & Clinic Cat Advocate

Name: Dr. Tara Craft, BVSc

Role: Head Veterinary Surgeon, Feline Doctor & Clinic Cat Advocate

Experience: Tara graduated from the University of Sydney in 2008 with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science. After working in Dubbo, she moved to Geraldton in 2012 with her Husband. Tara has a special interest in cats and has done further studies since graduating to hone these skills. She also has a high interest in surgery, with experience and further training in orthopaedic surgeries, but her passion lies in soft tissue surgery. She loves Geraldton and loves raising her family in our wonderful community.

Qualifications: Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc), Australian Government Accredited Veterinarian

Pets: Kelpies Larry, Fergie and Ziggy, two Tonkinese cats called Kwazii and Smudge, Whisky the shed cat, two guinea pigs Lola and Ginger, numerous chickens, peacock and Peahens, a large flock of sheep and 3 beautiful aquariums with too many fish to count

Suellen Taylor, BSc BVMS

Name: Dr. Suellen Taylor, BSc BVMS

Role: Veterinary Surgeon

Experience: Suellen graduated from Murdoch University in 1993 and has worked with the Midwest Vet team since 2011. Suellen also works at our local TAFE as the Coordinating Lecturer of Animal Care. She has experience in large and small animal care, and is an active member of the board for Mid West Cat Shelter.

Qualifications: Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (BVMS)

Pets: Murphy the Koolie, Abi the Tabby Domestic Shorthair and Blax the Quarter Horse.

Kat Smith, BVSc

Equine Veterinarian

Name: Dr. Kat Smith BVSc

Role: Equine Veterinarian

Experience: Dr Kat has over 15 years experience as an equine veterinarian. Her special interests are equine reproduction / stud medicine and gastroscopy. Dr Kat is dedicated to equine health and well being. She is available for dentistry, vaccinations, general medicine, minor surgery and geldings, lameness examinations, radiography, ultrasound, pre-purchase examinations, joint injections, fit-to-race certificates, DNA testing and microchipping. Dr Kat has a great relationship with other equine health professionals in the area and enjoys providing an holistic approach to the health of your horse.

Roxanne Yates

Veterinary Nurse

Name: Roxanne Yates

Role: Head Veterinary Nurse

Experience: Joined Midwest Vets in January 2014, after qualifying as a vet nurse in 2013 from our local TAFE. Roxanne grew up in Nelspruit – South Africa and moved to Australia in 2005. Roxanne has always been passionate about caring for animals and as a child wanted to work in a zoo. Roxanne had a break for maternity leave to welcome her two beautiful boys Archer and River, and is now happy to be back in clinic as our Head Nurse

Qualifications: Cert IV Veterinary Nursing.

Pets: Paris the Chihuahua Cross, Percy James the American staffy with Chilli and Pepper the Domestic Shorthair cats.

Hannah Greyson

Head Veterinary Nurse

Name: Hannah Greyson

Role: Veterinary Nurse

Experience: Hannah joined the Midwest Vet Centre team 2019, and was Head Nurse for over two years before stepping back to a casual role to follow her dreams of becoming a human paramedic.  Hannah was born in Geraldton, but grew up between Geraldton and Christmas Island. Her favourite surgery is a caesarian (puppies!), and enjoys baking lots of yummy treats for the team. On her days off, you’ll find Hannah at the beach baking something new, or playing video games.

Qualifications:  Cert III Animal Studies and Cert IV Veterinary Nursing.

Experience: Shay joined the Midwest Vet Centre team in 2013 and then in 2015 took some years off to raise her babies. We’re so pleased to have her back in clinic in a part time capacity!

About: Started at Midwest Vet Centre in 2021 as a kennel hand, and became a nurse in 2023. Mckenzee enjoys nursing, especially emergency and large animal nursing, and excited to continue strengthening her skills. In her free time she likes camping, going to the beach and spending time with family and friends.

Darcey Brooks

Darcey Brooks

Name: Darcey Brooks

Role: Veterinary Nurse

Experience: After moving to Geraldton in 2022 and Darcey joined the Midwest team in 2023 as a kennel hand while studying vet nursing at tafe. Now qualified and enjoying learning in new role as a nurse. Darcey grew up on a sheep farm in the wheatbelt and riding horses so has a special interest in large animal nursing. On her days off enjoys cooking and reading books.

Role: Veterinary Nurse

Experience: “Hannah R” joined the Midwest Vets team in 2018, before heading to Perth in 2020 to pursue further studies in vetmed. During that time she gained amazing experience and skills that she has brought back with her. We’re so grateful to have her back in clinic.

Chief Mischief Maker

Name: Dora the Clinic Cat

Role: Chief Mischief Maker (and Dermcare’s WA Clinic Cat of the Year 2016 and 2019!)

Experience: Joined Midwest Vets in March 2013 after being brought in as a stray. The staff fell in love with her and adopted Dora as the practice cat. Dora is at the practice every day, knows the daily routine well and is particularly enthusiastic about ward rounds feeding time! She likes to help herself to the teams’ lunches without asking. She’s very cheeky, but we love her all the same! Dora also took out the WA title for Dermcare’s Clinic Cat of the Year 2016 and 2019. We’re very proud.
