Kat graduated from The University of Queensland’s Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 2005 and completed an Internship in Equine Emergency and Critical Care at The Ohio State University in 2006. She then began work at Scone Equine Hospital, rotating through equine anaesthesia, reproduction and stud medicine. She became the resident veterinarian at Woodlands Stud, Baramul Stud and Widden Stud as well as attending other studs in Scone and surrounding areas. Kat changed from a thoroughbred stud medicine focus in 2010 for a position in Sydney concentrating on thoroughbred racing and artificial breeding technologies. In July 2011, Kat moved to Geraldton as an owner/veterinarian of Greenough Equine Veterinary Centre, where she worked until January 2015. Kat has taken up casual employment with Midwest Veterinary Centre.

Kat is available on Mondays for all services and Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings for reproduction work. She will also be helping the new graduate veterinarians to further develop their equine skills.

Kat offers a full ambulatory service for all your horse’s needs including, but not limited to, reproduction, general equine medicine (colic, geriatrics, foals, poor performance, weight loss) dentistry, vaccinations (including Hendra Virus), sand drenching, freeze branding, microchipping, pre-purchase examinations, lameness examinations and diagnostics.

Kat’s main focus remains in equine reproduction and medicine. She is available to set up mares for live cover or artificial insemination with chilled semen (insemination with frozen semen will hopefully be available again in 2016). She also ultrasounds mares for pregnancy diagnosis (including twin ablations) and placental health checks which include foetal health observation. She offers diagnostic work ups and treatments for mares with fertility problems and mares with problems during pregnancy. She also has a wealth of experience in post-partum care of your mare and treating unwell and premature foals.
