FOR OWNERS
Frequently Asked Questions?
All costs incurred with any surgeries, procedures and/or consultations are to be paid in full on the day. We do not offer payment plans. If you have any cost concerns, you can apply for pre-approval with Vetpay, GOPP or AfterPay
No show or missed appointments will incur a $50 fee for consultations, $100 for surgeries.
When using Vetpay we require a $50 or 10% deposit (if over $500) to be able to use this service.
Vaccinations and Desexing are the only procedures we can give a quote or exact price on over the phone or counter. If you wish to get an ESTIMATE on any other procedures, it is just this, an estimate. An estimate is just a rough guideline for you to have some idea of how much it will cost.
There are many factors that can contribute to a fluctuation in price: time, drugs, type of operation, staff required, anaesthetic time, hospitalisation to name a few. Your client care team member will go through the estimate with you line by line to ensure clarity.
Here at Midwest Vets we feel that being part of the community if vitally important, and knowing our clients is part of that. That is why when you call us after hours you will speak to one of OUR staff members, who works in the clinic day in and day out. We do not use a telemedicine service, so you will speak to the people who actually will be treating your pet. This means that we know the local issues, and what's happening in our town and community. We know when the sea hares are out and what to do, we know when we have had an increase in canine cough or snake bites. This means we can tailor our care to you and your pet easier.
We pride ourselves on our after hours service and being there for you when you need us most. We will never palm you off to a telemedicine off shore service.
No this is not a free service. The vets and nurses on the phone are happy to offer advice and determine if you need to be seen in person, however we do not appreciate multiple calls regarding the same patient if we have advised that you need to be seen. If you do not wish to use this service and be seen by the vet if advised, we kindly ask you not to call as the team answering these calls have most likely worked that day, and will be working the next day as well.
We are here to help, and are more then willing to help, however respecting time and expertise is paramount.
If you are required to be seen by the vet then after hours charges will apply. Minimum $425 for a consult. Diagnostics, treatments and additional services (such as home visits) will incur additional charges.
Whether during business hours or after hours, all treatment and services are required to be paid on the night before your pet is sent home. After hours emergencies will incur call out fees and deposits may be required prior to large procedures.
We accept AfterPay, Vetpay, GOPP and ZipPay if owners do not wish to use Cash or Eftpos.
1. Contact the After hours vet on 0407471933
2. The vet will triage and assess your pets concerns and advise if need to come to the clinic, your home or can be treated by yourself at home
3. The vet will arrange a time for you to come to clinic - this may be "head straight to the clinic ASAP" or "we will meet you at the clinic at a set time"
4. You then need to head to 117 Cathedral Ave Geraldton, where the nurse and vet will meet you
5. The nurse will confirm or collect your details
6. The vet will assess your animal and then advise you of treatment options required, providing an estimate for this service.
We ask that even if you are already on your way, please call the clinic to give us a heads up you are coming. This allows us to make sure someone is available for you and that we have equipment set up for your emergency. If your emergency does not require immediate veterinary attention, a nurse may assess and triage first and then you'll need to wait for a vet.
We otherwise run by appointment only during hours and walk in fees will apply if you haven't called.
